STARs Blossom

One of the striking things about play on Saturday, September 20th was the number of STARs scored by the teams. STARs is a program that gives special recognition to teams that hit the ball three times. Many teams earned a STAR - and often multiple STARs.

While teams can often score points by simply getting the first ball back across the net, in the long term, successful volleyball depends on players executing three hits: the pass-set-smash combination.

The number of STARs earned Saturday shows how much these young players have developed in just a couple of weeks.

First Day of Play is in the Books

Play got underway September 13-14 for the Fall 2008 Lions Jr's Youth Volleyball League. For the 3rd and 4th Grade Teams, Royal, Fusia, Green, Orange and Navy found their way to wins. Among the 5th and 6th Grade Teams, Pink and Blue won matches. There were quite a few ties in the opening week.

Fall Volleyball for Kids is Underway!

Lions Jrs., one of the top Volleyball Clubs in the country, is running a Co-ed Youth Volleyball League for grades 3 through 6. Practices are either Tuesday or Thursday evenings. Games are held on either Saturday or Sunday. For individuals with a conflict for their scheduled practice day, it has been possible in most cases to arrange to practice on the other practice day.
